To tow your 2005 Wrangler, you will need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, wiring and depending on the states you are planning on towing the vehicle through, an auxiliary braking system.

For a tow bar, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520. For the Wrangler with the tube bumper, use base plate kit part # RM-521424-4.

Your best wiring set-up dependd on how often you were planning on towing the vehicle. If you will only be towing the vehicle occasionally, a magnetic mounted light system like part # RM-2120 would work great for you. The install is easy, and the wiring remains completely independent from the vehicle being towed. If you are planning on towing the vehicle more frequently, a more permanent solution like the Tail Light Isolating Diode System with Wiring Harness, part # 38955 is a better choice for you.

The Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643 would do a good job of keeping your Jeep attached to the tow vehicle in the event that the tow bar should be detached.

For a braking system, I recommend the Roadmaster Portable Braking System, part # RM-9400.

I will link you to several FAQ articles about flat towing a vehicle. These articles include diagrams that illustrate how to wire a diode system. I will also link you to an install video showing how the diode system is installed. The video shows an install on a different vehicle than yours, but the video will give you a good idea of the process involved.

Many vehicles will require other modifications in order to be flat towed without being damaged. These modifications may include free-wheeling hubs, axle disconnects or transmission lube pumps. I would recommend consulting your owners manual as well as your Jeep dealer for more specifics related to your Jeep.
