Troubleshooting Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller that Works But Shows No Connection

Question:

Hi. I’m not a customer of yours, being in a different country, but you seem to be the source of best knowledge on the net. I have a Tekonsha Primus IQ controller that is causing me problems. With a trailer connected, it sometimes shows .c or n.c, and often . . Nevertheless, it appears to brake appropriately, regardless what the screen is showing. I have swapped in a borrowed, identical controller, which functions perfectly. Any ideas what might be causing my controller’s symptoms? Would it be repairable or am I up for a new one? Many thanks.

Sounds like the display system of the controller is having an internal problem. If the controller is connected to a trailer and is activating the brakes like it should and it's showing no connection and sometimes a connection the problem would be internal and you'd have to replace it.

For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P3 Brake Controller part # 90195. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes. This will be the last brake controller you buy. It can easily be transferred to future vehicles as well.
