Best 4-Bike Bike Rack for Rear Hatch Clearance on a 2014 Acura MDX
Question:
Hello, I’m looking for a bike rack for my ‘14 Acura MDX. We have 2 adult hybrid bikes and 2 kid bikes 8 year old and 6 year old size. I would need to be able to open the cargo trunk for access to our dog. I do have a trailer hitch. Any suggestions would be wonderful. Thanks,

As long as your bikes don't have fenders then the best option for you is to go with a platform bike rack that secures the bikes by their wheels. This will allow you to tilt the bike rack away for rear hatch access with the bikes still loaded.
For your 2014 Acura MDX I recommend going with the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack # Y02443-2. This is a great bike rack that is made by one of the leading bike rack manufacturers out there. This bike rack includes the tilting feature for rear hatch access as well as the folding feature so that you have better rear clearance when the bikes are not loaded. It comes with bike and hitch locks to secure your equipment in case you need to leave it unattended.
This can hold up to 4 bikes that weigh 60 lbs each, and an anti-rattle device to help keep the play out of your receiver. Yakima also includes 2 red LED lights and a flag to help people see that you have cargo at the rear of your vehicle. When only the adults are going on a ride you can remove 2 of the bike holders for extra rear clearance and utilize the bottle opener that comes built-in to the bike rack. One of the best features of the bike rack is that it has a limited lifetime warranty and the great customer service here at etrailer and at Yakima!
I have attached a review video of this bike rack on a 2015 Acura MDX so that you can see the tilting feature starting at the 0:47 mark.
