If your 2005 Satrun Vue is front wheel drive with a 4T45E transmission, then you will be able to flat tow it using a tow bar. If it has a VT25-E or MDRA transmission, you will need a car trailer to tow the vehicle. To determine which transmission you have, you can have a local dealership run the VIN number.

If you determine that you can flat tow the vehicle, you will first need base plates. For a 4-cylinder engine model, use XL Base Plates, # 3111-1. For a 6-cylinder that is NOT a Redline and does not have a brushguard, use XL Base Plates, # 3121-1. And for a Redline, use # BX3321.

For the first 2 base plates listed above, I recommend the RoadMaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520. It is the most popular tow bar for XL base plates. I have incldued a link to the installation details and a video review for you.

For the Blue Ox base plates, I recommend the Avail Tow Bar, # BX7420, which also comes with safety cables.

There are a few other items that you will need to safely flat tow your Vue. If you go with the Roadmaster set up, you will need to add safety cables, # RM-643. You will also need a lighting solution for the Vue. I have included a link to the options you have so you can determine what is best for you.

Most states now require a supplemental braking system installed on the vehicle that is being towed. The easiest to install and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400. This is a proportional system that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the RV is braking making for safe braking and reducing wear and tear on both vehicles.

You should also consult your vehicle owners manual for any additional information on towing your Vue. I have included a link to our series of FAQ articles on flat towing which should be helpful.
