Replacement Control Module for Lippert Electric RV Step

Question:

I have an older model step module Serial # 1636807 on a 2004 Lexington single step. , no part #. I was told that LC301702 is compatable with a $400 upgrade. Can you confirm this or give me the proper replacement Model #. All grounds were good and there is 13.7 volts to the red power wire. The module clicks but the step only moves 1inch forward and reverse. The motor operates properly when connected directly to the battery. The screen door magnetic switch functions. The step functions perfectly when disconnected from the linkage. Thanks. I used the SCS/Frigette owners manual P/N 733-0001, Jan/2001 to test all wiring and functions.

Based on your troubleshooting efforts it does sound like the control module for your electric step is the source for the malfunction. Just the same, given the age of the whole step assembly it might be worth considering simply replacing the entire unit with a new one, such as one of those shown on the linked page, like # LC3747452.

All of these are electric single-step assemblies from Lippert, which is likely to be the company that made your RV frame. We have steps in various widths so we should have one that will match up perfectly and bolt right up.

However, I did confirm with my contact at Lippert the correct replacement control modules for your step. If it is a Coach brand step use # LC301702. If it is a Kwikee brand step then use # LC379606.
They could not identify the step using the serial number 1636807 you provided.
