Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector for a Boat Trailer to a 2002 Toyota Tundra with a 4-Way

Question:

I currently have a 4 pin plug out the back of this truck, my boat is round 7 blade. It has hydraulic brakes and only needs the blue wire on the center to activate the actuator for disabling the brakes for backing up. Which configuration would I need to complete this this and install a round plug to this vehicle?

Since you don't need the 7-way trailer connector to have all of the functions working you can use part # 37185. It's a 4-way to 7-way adapter that plugs into the 4-way you have and has the extra wires for the extra functions. Connect the purple wire on the adapter to the reverse lights on your 2002 Toyota Tundra so it'll engage the reverse lockout on the trailer's actuator. The other wires can be capped off.

To find the reverse light circuit on your truck you can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993.
