Fit of Road Bike on Thule UpRide Wheel-Mount Roof Bike Rack TH599000

Question:

Would this rack work with a road bike with limited clearance between the downtube and front wheel?

Expert Reply:

The Thule UpRide Roof-Rack-Mount Bike Carrier # TH599000 has a front tire clamping system that does require space between the front downtube and the rear tread surface of the front tire.

For a road bike with limited clearance in this area this rack may not be the best option but to check
I called my contact at Thule to find out just how much space is needed for a good fit. My contact indicated you will want at least 2-inches between these surfaces as shown in the linked photo I prepared for you. This dimension is not a hard and fast rule since tube angles also affect fit.

You may also care to have a look at the helpful article I linked which covers the things to consider when selecting a roof-mount bike carrier that will best fit with your bike's design features.
