Installing the Prodigy P3 on 2016 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Local shops will not install on my 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE because splicing into the brake light wire causes a higher that normal voltage reading for the on board computer and shuts down the circuit and potentially damaging the computer

The problem you are describing in terms of installing the Prodigy P3 # 90195 brake controller would be for hybrid models. When installing you can only disconnect the brake light switch if A) the battery is disconnected OR B) the ignition is in the off position so be sure the installer is aware of this.
