Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying E-Bike that Weighs 40 lbs

Question:

I have a cool art Sherpa bike rack that I purchased new about five years ago. I’m having difficulty finding specifications with regard to weight capacity. We are considering getting an E bike for my wife. I would be using a hybrid mountain bike. The bike weighs about 40 pounds. Is there any problem in using the crew walked Sherpa bike rack if I put the bike on the rack closest to the car. I would assume that would be fine.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH22G and it's previous generation had a 40 lb per bike capacity. If you can verify the bike weighs 40 lbs or less this would work well.

Otherwise you'd have to look into a bike rack with a higher capacity like the Saris Freedom Superclamp # SA4025F which has a capacity of 60 lbs per bike.
