Length of Load Bar that Comes with Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier DTA944-968-924

The manufacturer says the load bar is 48 in, not 51. Which is correct? Also will the extender bar fit inside the load bar for storage as the Darby extender does? Thanks,

For the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier w/ Hitch Mounted Load Extender and Single-Bar Roof Rack # DTA944-968-924 that you referenced we have the load bar length listed as 48 inches as well.
Yes, the shank portion of this does fit into the load bar portion which will make for easier storage.
