Recommendation For Sway Control And Hitch Shank That Fits 2-1/2 Inch Receiver For 2017 Ford F-250
Question:
I have a 2017 Ford F-250. I am looking to tow a travel trailer with 11,000 lbs GVWR. What sway pro hitch is best for this? I assume 1,500 lb. tongue weight rating. I would like a hitch shank that fits my 2.5” receiver.

The most important thing to consider in choosing a weight distribution system is your total tongue weight. This will include the trailer loaded tongue weight which is usually 10-15% of the total weight of the trailer as well as any cargo weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Ideally, you want a weight distribution system where the total, loaded tongue weight lands in the middle of the system's tongue weight range.
Based on your information, I recommend a weight distribution system with sway control like the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution with Sway Control, Item # RP66075. It has a tongue weight range of 1,000-lbs to 1,700-lbs and a gross towing capacity of 17,000-lbs. This system is unique in that it is designed to prevent sway with its dual cam sway control. It has trunnion spring bars and they apply constant pressure to both sides helping your trailer to stay straight. The system allows the bars to overcome the cam for cornering without binding. The system can also be adjusted to your preferences to make your towing experience easier and more enjoyable. It works with 2-1/2 inch x 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch receivers and includes almost everything. A 2-5/16 inch hitch ball like Item # 63840 and an adjustable shank like Item # RP54976 are sold separately.
