Wheel and Tire Compatibility for Upgrading to Aluminum Wheels from Steel Wheels on a Trailer

Question:

Hi,Looking to possibly buy four 4 new wheels AM 20281 to replace my existing steel wheels. Is it ok to mount Load Star ST 185 / 80 D13 tires on AM 20281 wheels ? Not sure how to measure existing rim width. Bolt pattern and offset are good. Thanks for your help !

The Loadstar ST185/80D13, # AM1ST79 tire would be compatible with the HWT Aluminum Trailer Wheel, # AM20281B. The ST185/80D13 tire is designed to fit on 4-1/2 and 5 and 5-1/2 inch rim widths. We have a trailer tire sizing page that shows rim size compatibility for trailer tires.

You may also want to consider new lug nuts for use with the aluminum wheels. The Americana Trailer Wheel Lug Nut, # AM26NR, would be a good choice for upgrading from standard lug nuts. 20 Lug nuts would be needed for 4 new wheels.
