Comparing B and W Extend a Goose Offset and 4 inch B and W Offset Adapter # BWGNXA4085

Question:

Hello Well I just blew out my back window of my 2015 Ford 2500 short bed truck backing up and turning my 2006 Kiefer 4 horse trailer. Both BandW 4inch extender ball and the 10inch coupler extender have great reviews. How do I decide which one to purchase? Is there a formula? I dont want to under or over purchase just want to purchase the correct item? Thanks,

The offset adapters you mentioned part # BWGNXA4085 and # BWTEXA4200 aren't exactly an apples to apple comparison. Reason being that when your truck turns relative to the trailer the # BWTEXA4200 turns with it which diminishes the 10 inch offset where you need it the most. Whereas the part # BWGNXA4085 moves the pivot point back 4 inches so it's offset, while smaller, is a more effective offset when you consider cab clearance.

Either way it's hard to tow a gooseneck hitch with a short bed truck if the trailer has a square nose. I'd think the 4 inch offset would be the way to go since it moves the pivot back, but in reality you aren't ever going to be able to make a 90 degree turn since you have a short bed truck.
