TorkLift HiddenPower Battery Mount be Used to Add 12 Volt Battery to 6 Volt Battery Bank

Question:

Hello!..quick question about adding additional batteries to my truck camper setup....I have a 2015 ram 3500 SRW 6.7l cummins and a 2016 lance 995. We have solar and recently upgraded to two 6v batteries wired in series and this is a much better setup and last longer than the auto/marine deep cycle 12v’s they replaced. However, I am looking to add more battery power with the TorkLift system. Since the two 6v batteries are now essentially one big 12v battery....can I add another 12v battery to the system so the setup would be two 6v batteries wired in series with an additional single 12v battery mounted in the hidden power setup? Would this be ok as long as the 12v battery had the same total amperage as the 6v’s?

As long as you get the voltages to match up correctly you can add a 12 volt battery to a battery bank with the TorkLift HiddenPower Under-Vehicle Battery Mount with Battery Box # TLA7740.

The key is knowing the difference between running the batteries in series vs. in parallel. Your 6 volt batteries are in series currently so you'd need to add your 12 volt battery to them in parallel so that the voltages all match.

So the main negative post of the 6 volt battery that you run to your trailer runs to the negative post of the 12 volt battery and then the same for the positive post.
