How Transmission Fluid is Cooled With Derale Combination Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler # D15902

Question:

I just received the 15902 Combo oil cooler. The instructions are clear as to the Engine Oil installation, but not being much of a mechanic Im confused as to how the Transmission is cooled through this device. I will have a mechanic do the installation but wanted to understand first how it cools the Tranny. Thanks For Your Help !!

On the Derale Combination Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler, part # D15902, the engine oil and transmission fluid flow through separate copper tubes inside the same core that uses aluminum fins on the cooler for maximum heat transfer.

The transmission cooler is installed inline with the factory transmission cooler on your vehicle now. The fluid will run from the transmission to the factory transmission cooler. Then, out of the factory cooler and into the Derale combo cooler, where the fluid is cooled even more and back into the transmission. I am including a picture of how the transmission cooler will be set up on your vehicle.

On the aftermarket transmission cooler the ports are not input specific or output specific. It is not directional so you can choose either port for either function. You will want to choose the inlet or outlet port location by what will make your installation easier.
