Troubleshooting a Draw-Tite Activator IV # 5504 Not Activating Trailer Brakes
Question:
Bought Activator IV long time ago when pulling camper. Worked fine before selling camper. Now have new dump trailer and brakes dont work at all. Decibel point lights up when I push on brake pedal or apply manually. Checked plug and test light lights up on 2 prongs when I step on brakes. No numbers light up when I push on brakes. Again worked fine with camper but now it wont. Any suggestions? I have it on a 2001 F150 pickup.

It sounds like you have determined that the problem is not in your 2001 Ford F150. The fact that you have voltage at two of the poles of the 7-way on your vehicle shows that everything is working correctly up to that point.
It sounds like the wiring on your dump trailer is where the error is. I would inspect the wiring looking for corrosion, loose wiring or anything else that would cause the short in the circuit and fix as necessary.
