How To Set Up Tekonsha P3 Brake Control In 2016 Chevrolet Express Van
Question:
What brake type do I when setting up my P3 brake controller to work with my 2016 Chevy express Van? My set up options are electric or hydraulic. Do you have any suggestions for typical or appropriate settings for the trailer brake power when towing 5,000 pound trailer? Any boost setting suggestions? E trailer installed it for me originally but I had to replace it because it was showing and internal/no brakes messaging. Thanks to an etrailer published ask the expert question, I learned how to easily get it replaced.

Which brake type you choose for your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, Item # 90195, will depend on the type of brakes you have on your trailer: electric or hydraulic. Since the trailer you will be towing is close to but less than the weight of your 2016 Chevrolet Express Van, I recommend starting with boost level B1 or B2. B1 is more of a normal setting and B2 is slightly more aggressive braking. B3 is a good choice if you are comfortable with a more aggressive braking sequence. Make sure you perform test runs at slow speed and adjust the level until you find the right setting for you.
I have attached a video for you to check out.
