I recommend using the CargoBuckle G3 Straps # IMF18800. These are ratcheting straps that have a very nice retractable feature for easy storage and to help keep things organized.

The G3 straps have a safe working load limit (WLL) of 1,167 lbs which will be enough for your 5,000 lbs boat since it will be resting on the trailer. The break strength rating is 3,500 lbs.

If you don't have a location to mount these then you need the Mounting Brackets # IMF16777 which have a weight capacity of 2,500 lbs.
