Trailair Flex Air 5th wheel Pin Box Additional Bed Rail Clearance Replacing Lippert 1621

Question:

Will using a Trail Air or similar product change the bed rail clearance between trailer tongue and truck bed rails? Currently with stock Lippert pinbox, I only have 4.5inch max. Would like to increase and also smooth out the ride. Can I kill 2 birds with one stone here?

In general the aftermarket pin boxes do achieve a better clearance than the stock pin boxes simply because they offer more adjustability. The Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC328492 will give you an additional 3-3/4 inches in length and the height from the bottom the kingpin to the top of the mounting bracket is 19-9/16 inches, so you will need to measure to see how much additional clearance you will gain based on your current pin box.
