Solution for Damaged Integrated Brake Controller of 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
Question:
08 Chevy Silverado 2500hd duramax has no trailer brakes. The dash said service trailer brake system. Took it to the dealership they tried replacing the relay and trailer brake module and the updated the software but it still didnt work then they said I would need to bring it back another day to get it looked at. I have since tried the trailer brake switch thats built into the Dash and the 40amp fuse under the hood no change. The trailer is a 2018 sure trac 20ft car trailer the dealership hooked it up to a new truck and the progession bar worked but it doesnt work for my truck anymore. The day that it stopped working I heard an interference noise 1 minute before the light came on to service trailer brake.

Sounds like something only a GM dealer would be able to fix, or you can go with an aftermarket brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195, bypass your factory controller and not have to worry about trying to track down the problem as it sounds expensive!
I attached a help article that covers the entire process of installing a brake controller in a 2008 Chevy Silverado with an integrated brake controller for you to check out as well.
