Are Trailer Tires Designed to Handle the Southeast States Hotter Weather?

Question:

Read Jason S., answer to horse trailer tires. Commending the Westlake #LHWL410 and the Taskmaster Provider #TTWPRG235R16. Both of these tires are a load G. My question is I live in Florida, which of these will take the heat better. I was considering the TowMaster SS because it says made for the southeast states hotter weather. My local store carries the Power King load F. Do you have an option on this tire? Thank you

The Taskmaster # TTWPRG235R16 and Westlake # LHWL410 will both do fine with Florida heat. We do not have the Towmaster SS or the Power King load range F tires, but I have not heard of either one to give you their reliability in comparison. Sorry I can be of assistance on that. The difference between the load range G tires listed and the load range F tires you mentioned are the ply rating and weight capacity. The G tires are rated at 14 ply and the F tires are rated at 12 ply.

We do have the Kenda Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range F # AM10501 which will have that same load rating as the Power King you mentioned. This tire is rated for 3,960 lbs at 110 psi and has a maximum speed rated at 81 mph. It comes with a 2 year warranty.

The heat concern will fall under any manufacturer warranty if ambient heat has had an effect on the tire itself. I do recommend you go with radial tires over bias tires because they do disperse heat better based on design, so you will have a lower friction heat from movement added to the ambient heat already present.

We have customers who have purchased all these tires that live in hot climates and have never had an issue when the tires are run at their max psi as intended.

Let me know if you have further questions.
