Where is the Blue Brake Output Wire Ran When Using the Curt Echo
Question:
Hello! I have a 2018 Subaru Outback with the factory tow kit installed the 4-flat. I have ordered a ETBC7L Universal Installation Kit to covert to the 7-Blade required to power and tow my new Taxa TigerMoth trailer. I also ordered the Echo partially because the trailer will have multiple tow vehicles, but also to avoid running a wiring harness in the new Outbacks cab for the controller unit. My question is, on the 7-Blade adaptor, in order to bypass the brake controller circuit, do I just run the second 12v Hot lead back to the Electric Brake Output blue wire on the 7-Blade? My assumption is the receiver of the brake controller the unit mounted to the trailer assumes the responsibility of limiting and switching the brake controllers output? This is assuming that the Curt unit will just use the chassis ground that the 7-Blade provides? Thanks for any insight you have!

The blue electric brake output wire from the back of the adapter on part # ETBC7L will not be needed when using the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 as the controller operates off an inertia sensor and the stop light switch circuit. The blue wire can just be taped off and secured to the vehicle.
The black 12 volt power wire on the adapter will however still need to be ran to the vehicle's battery with a 40 amp circuit breaker placed 6" from the positive terminal.
