The Cruiser Tuf Flat Clear Shield for License Plates # CR76100 is designed to work well with or without license plate frames. Since it is flat and contours to the plate's surface it will work with most frames but in some cases you might need longer hardware for it to work with a particular frame.
I went to our warehouse to look at this item for myself. It measures 12 x 6-inches overall. There is a small lip on the shield that gives it a total thickness of about 1/8-inch.
