Can a Tail Light Converter be Used to Put a Third Brake Light on a Trailer

Question:

I enclosed a small flat utility trailer and it is 5 feet tall now. I want to add a third break light at top on the back. Will this devise work without having to run a wire all the way back to my car ? Can I use it with part number STL90RCB ?

Using a Tail Light Converter, like # 118158, will work to isolate the brake light signal for a third brake light on your trailer.

What you would do is connect the green and the yellow wires on the input side of the converter in line with the appropriate wires leading to the left turn/brake and right turn/brake lights. The red wire exiting the converter would then be used to power your third brake light. The yellow and green wires on the output side of the converter would not be needed and you can tape them up.

An LED light draws less power than a regular light, and the draw from the other lights, if not LEDs, may be too great for the Third Brake Light, # STL90RCB. It would be best to go with all of one type of light so everything works properly.
