Recommended Ball Mount for Rise and Drop Requirements with 2 Inch Pre-Mounted Hitch Ball
Question:
I need two ball-mounts as follows: A 4inch drop with a 2inch chrome ball permanently-affixed or else installed by etrailer to connect my lifted Ford pick-up truck to a 6foot x 12foot flat-bed U-Haul trailer. A 3inch RISE with a 2inch chrome ball permanently-affixed or else installed by etrailer to connect my Class A motorhome to a 6foot x 12foot flat-bed U-Haul trailer. Max loaded weight of trailer is 4400 pounds. To get the above, I measured the CENTER of my trucks 2x2 hitch square hitch receiver and its 21.5inch above the ground. To get the above, I measured the CENTER of my motorhomes 2x2 hitch square receiver and its 14.125inch above the ground. U-Haul says 25inch max ball height. I recently rented a U-Haul truck and trailer and, when the trailer was empty and completely level, the MIDDLE of U-Hauls ball was 17.5inch above the road. I plan to tow a 1500 lb side-by-side UTV Can Am Maverick in this tandem axle trailer. Since the trailer sat level when empty at a MIDDLE OF THE HITCH-BALL height of 17.5, it seems like I should be shooting for a 17.5inch middle-of-the-ball-height. Note: trailers dry weight is 1730 lbs. Trailer can carry 2670 lbs cargo. Trailers Gross Vehicle max is 4400 lbs. Im not sure if I should change my targeted height to accommodate for an suspension compression once I add the 1500 dune buggy. What do you recommend for a FORD-rise and for a motorhome-? Can you install the 2inch ball on each obviously on the appropriate side of the flippable ball mounts. OR recommend ball-mounts that have permanently-affixed 2inch chrome balls? Can I get two 2inch balls instead of what comes with some of these kits - like item number 989900 CHROME BALLS definitely preferred. Sorry for the long-winded message, but I like to do my homework on the weekends when I have more time. Thanks!

For your Ford truck needing a 4 inch drop, I recommend the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 2" Ball # C45056. This will come with the pin and clip and pre-torqued hitch ball.
For your 3 inch rise with mounted ball, I recommend the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900. This is an adjustable mount that you could use for the rise and drop needed on either vehicle to work well with your trailer. I recommend a locking hitch pin like # e98880 to secure your investment.
We don't actually torque the hitch balls unless we are installing the hitch and ball mount for you locally, so the # 989900 isn't an option for a fit plus it wouldn't have the second 2 inch ball or perfect height options for you.
