The Pro Series Steel Cargo Carrier you referenced, part # PS1040100 can be used with a 2 inch receiver, but an adapter like part # HTAD must be used. Because using an adapter places the load further away from the hitch receiver, your hitch tongue weight capacity will be reduced by 50 percent when using the adapter. If the tongue weight capacity of your Class II receiver is 300 lbs, it will be reduced to 150 lbs when using the cargo carrier with the hitch adapter. This means that the cargo carrier plus anything placed on it can weigh no more than 150 lbs. Using a hitch adapter can also cause more wobble or shake of the carrier, because instead of the carrier attaching directly to the receiver, there will be another piece in the middle.
To realize the full cargo carrying capacity of your Class II receiver, your best bet would be to use a cargo carrier designed for a 1-1/4 inch receiver. I have provided a link to all of the cargo carriers we offer that are compatible with a Class II receiver.
