Troubleshooting Weak Brakes on 2008 Everest After Having Bearings Repacked

Question:

So what auto adjusting brakes do I order?

Either they somehow got grease on your brakes and they aren't working because of that or the brakes are way out of adjustment. Are the brakes manual adjust or self -adjust? If they are self adjust they should start working again after a several brake applications while moving.

If they are manual adjust you'd want to click the star wheel of the assemblies until you feel a light drag as you turn the wheel by hand.

Either way though I'd recommend speaking with the shop you had work on the trailer.

What you have is a standard 12 inch brake assembly by Dexter like the part # 23-459. If you jack the trailer up so that one wheel is off the ground can you turn the wheel by hand? Is there a drag at all? Check out the video (see link). Beginning at the 4:23 mark, our installer shows how to adjust your trailer brakes.

You'd want the part # 23-459 for the right hand side and then part # 23-458 for the left hand side.
