How to Find the Correct Replacement Hub for Boat Trailer

Question:

Hi, I am replacing a hub for my boat trailer 3500 lb. I was able to remove a badly worn unit. I want to make sure I am ordering the right assembly set for my trailer. I did not know if there were many different styles of spindles for the hubs. I see one linked off the page I was viewing . Hoping this will work Thanks for any help

It is likely that Hub Assembly # 84655UC1 which you referenced is going to work for you, as it is for 3,500 lb axles and has a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern, but there are steps you need to take to make sure.

In order to find the correct hub assembly for your boat trailer, you can take a look at the assembly you have already removed and find the bearing numbers; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them. If you are unable to find them, you would need to use a digital caliper and measure your spindle to the hundredths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.

Hub Assembly # 84655UC1 that you were taking a look at, for example, uses inner bearing # L68149, outer bearing # L44649 and grease seal # 58846. If your bearings match those numbers, or you find that your spindle measures 1.38" where the inner bearing rides, 1.06" where the outer bearing rides and 1.72" where the grease seal rides then this is the correct assembly for you. Should you have different bearings or measurements let me know and I'll be happy to try and find the correct replacement hub for you.
