Parts Needed to Install a Transmission Cooler on a 2004 Buick Rainier With 3600 Stall Converter

Question:

Hi there i have a 2004 buick rainier with the 5.3 liter v8 and 4l60e transmission, ive just recently bought a cam which requires running a 32-3600 stall torque converter. more than likely ill be buying the 3600 stall but as im sure you may know with a higher stall converter comes higher transmission temps. so i plan on buying the trans cooler Code: D13504 but my question is does this kit come with EVERYTHING i will need to install it or are there a bunch of other fittings and stuff i will need to buy. if so do you sell them and what part numbers are they? thank you

My research shows that you will need to add the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting, # D13035, to the Derale Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13504, that you selected, to complete the installation on your 5.3 liter V8 GM motor. This cooler would work fine to help cool the transmission for towing.

It sounds as if you are building a street strip application, with a 3600 stall converter, so I would recommend going with a Derale Atomic-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13950. This cooler comes with a thermostatically controlled fan and all of the parts needed for installation, you would only need parts for mounting the cooler in the location you choose. We have a bracket kit, # D50020, that may help, or you could use your own hardware for mounting.

When wiring the fan you will connect the power wire to a switched 12 volt source, and then run the ground wire to one wire on the in-line thermostat and the other wire from the thermostat to a good chassis ground.
