Selecting Correct Weight Distribution Shank for Equal-i-zer System on New Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2018 2500 Ram 4x4 diesel. I have purchased a Travel Trailer in DenverIm in Va. The TT has the EQ37120ET and was pulled by a Toyota Land Cruiser. Question........Im going to be driving to Denver and need to have everything ready to roll when I get there.........I probably need to order the longer shank? due to the height of the Ram........plus I suspect the receivers are different..... what will I need to pair the Ram to the TT? I suspect you will need more information.

The adjustable shank that is included with the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET that you referenced features an 8 inch length from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the adjustment holes. It can be adjusted to a maximum rise of 7 inches or a maximum drop of 3 inches.

If you find that you need more drop than this to tow the trailer level, I recommend going with the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank # EQ90-02-4400, which features an adjustable drop of up to 9 inches (or a rise of up to 13 inches) and is compatible with 2 inch receivers. If the hitch on your Ram has a 2-1/2 inch receiver, you can use the Equal-i-zer # EQ90-02-4900 instead, which has a drop of 6 inches.

In order to determine if this will be sufficient, you will want to take a quick measurement on your truck with it parked on level ground from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver. Then compare this to the measurement on the trailer, when level, from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. The difference between the two measurements will be what you want to look at when deciding how much drop (or rise) you might need. Since you don't yet have the trailer in your possession, you might be able to get this dimension from the seller.

Everything else should already be included with this particular weight distribution system, so you shouldn't need to add any other component to hook up your Ram to the trailer (assuming you already have the trailer hitch and wiring connector installed). I have attached the complete written installation instructions for this system that you can use for reference or for some reading material during your trip to pick up the camper.
