Will the Tekonsha Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness Fit a 2018 Dodge Durango W/O Trailer Wiring

Question:

There should be a bracket to attach to the left of the opening for the ball mount to which the receptacle can be secured but says that no bracket was included with either the hitch receiver or the wiring harness. Should a bracket have been included? If not, is such a bracket available or should the receptacle be attached directly to the receiver?

The Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter part # 22551 is specifically designed to be used with a 2018 Dodge Durango that did not come with trailer wiring. The harness offers almost an entirely plug and play installation that will not require you to splice any wires.

If you also need a brake controller I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 as this is our top of the line best selling brake controller. The popularity of this controller is due to it's easy to use display, integrated safeguards, and LCD screen.

I have attached a review video of both the harness and controller for you as well.

I have a 2018 Dodge Durango GT with a Draw-Tite 76196 Installed. I would like to install trailer wiring harness that support a 4 way and 7 way connector. Would also be able to add a brake controller in the future. What parts do you recommend?

Along with your hitch, you're going to want the Pollak # HM40975-11933 if you have the factory tow package or the T-One # 118617 and # ETBC7 wiring if you don't. Then for a brake controller I recommend the Prodigy P3 # 90195 which will plug into your factory connector with part # TK93VR if you have the factory tow package or you will need to hardwire the connections if you don't.

The Universal Brake Controller Harness part # 22551 has the same function as the OEM Brake Controller Harness part # TK22113 but installs in a different way. The universal harness will require you to cut and splice into several wires on your 2018 Dodge Durango whereas the OEM harness is almost all plug and play with no splicing. There will not be a better wiring harness to add a 7-way to your Durango than the OEM Brake Controller Harness part # TK22113.

There is a tab welded onto the left (driver's) side of the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76196 which is used to mount a trailer connector but you would still need a bracket to do so. Neither the hitch or wiring harness part # TK22113 would have come with this bracket but you can add it using part # PK12711U. I have attached a photo to show you this mounting location as well.
