Will Using a Reducer Sleeve in Factory 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Reduce Towing Capacity of 2017 Ford F-250

Question:

Michael Will the 2.5 to 2inch reducer sleeve you recommend reduce the rear towing capacity Class 5 to a Class 4? I want to maintain maximum towing capacity of 21,000 for the F250 Superduty. Since I wont be using the front as much it might be better to just buy another hitch for the front Drawtite 2inch receiver. In other words run a 2.5in the rear and a separate 2inch in the front. Thoughts?

Expert Reply:

Whether or not the capacity drops when using a reducer sleeve is something that the hitch manufacturer or Ford would have to tell you. I know that in some applications it does reduce the towing capacity and in others it does not.

It probably would be easiest to go with a 2 inch hitch in the front, # 65076, and the 2-1/2 at the back like you said.
