Best Supplemental Braking System Recommendation for Flat Towing

Question:

I recently bought a 40 foot Country Coach. On the dash is a U. S. Gear Unified Tow Brake controllerof the same design as the one pictured. The seller made such a deal about the value this would be when I came to setting up a toad. So, now Im looking to set up my 2005 Grand Cherokee. And Im told U.S.Gear stopped making their UTB system 5 years ago! Is that controller compatible with anything on the market? Do I just need to rip it out and start from scratch? What would be the most practical/economic route to having suitable braking on my Jeep?

The SMI DUO part # SM99251 that you referenced is the best option out there. It's the easiest to install and best performing of the permanent install style of supplemental braking systems that are available.

We have no way of using the Unified Tow Brake that you have. I wish there was a way to help with that but we never carried that system either.

I attached an install video for the DUO for you to check out that shows it installed in a similar 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee as what you have.
