Will 4 Mountain Bikes Fit on the RockyMounts SplitRail # RKY11404-4

Question:

How much space does the Rockymountain Split Rail 4 allow between bikes as compared to the Yakima 4 Timer? Is there plenty of room to 4 four full sized mountain bikes? How large of tires will it accommodate? Will it fit 3inch wide tires or 650b+

On the RockyMounts SplitRail # RKY11404-4 the center to center spacing from one bike position to the next is 9 inches. It will likely be a tight fit for 4 mountain bikes that is why the trays slide 4 inches side to side to optimize spacing. The rack will accept tires up to 3 inches wide.

The Yakima Yakima HoldUp # Y02443-2 will offer a little more space, with 11-1/2" between bikes, so it will be easier to get your 4 mountain bikes on it. The 3 inch wide tires would not be a problem. It also holds bikes up to 50 pounds each. The HoldUp is the better option for your needs between these two racks.
