Bike Rack Recommendation for an RV with 2 Inch Hitch and 2017 Chevy Volt with 1-1/4 Inch Hitch

Question:

I am considering the Swagman XTC-2 bike rack. I have 4 questions 1 Will it fit the Leisure Travel Freedom 4m RV with a 2 inch hitch AND a 2017 Volt with a 1and1/4 inch hitch? 2 Will I need an extension for the 2 inch hitch to clear the Leisure Travels spare wheel? 3 Can the rack be locked in placed to prevent theft? 4 Will the tire width of 2 inches be well secured in the platform folder?

The Swagman XTC bike rack # S64670 is not rated for use at the back of an RV or trailer but I do have a recommendation that is and will also work with your 2017 Chevy Volt. You can use the Curt # C18085 for both applications. This bike rack's claim to fame is its versatility. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.

To determine if the rack will extend out far enough to clear the spare tire on the RV measure from the center of the hitch pin hole back to rear most part of the spare tire. If that distance is less than 12 inches the rack will clear the spare (though keep in mind the first bike will be closer at the handle bars and pedals). I do not recommend using an extension for any bike rack at the back of an RV because that will amplify the stress on both the hitch and the rack.

You can add a lock to deter theft of this rack using # SHP2082.The 2 inch wide tires will not be a problem with this rack.
