Can Bikes Be Carried on the Roof Rack on a 2005 Chevy Tahoe with Rooftop Bike Carrier # S64720

Question:

I have a 2005 Tahoe with factory crossbars I use for my Thule Ski Rack. I need to cary two bikes, can I use this product? Will it be too high? I think if its under 10 feet I should be okay. Any help would be appreciated.

The Rooftop Bike Carrier, item # S64720, will fit on your 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe cross bars as long as they are no larger than 3-1/8 inches wide by 1-7/8 inches tall and the cross bars can be positioned about 27-1/2 inches apart, I recommend measuring.

The height of the bikes in addition to the height of the cross bars on your Tahoe will be the overall height of the bikes when installed on the vehicle. You will need to use caution when the bike racks are installed on the vehicle. Entering your garage, parking garages, bank drive up locations, and possibly fast food lines can all have low height requirements that would damage the bikes, vehicle and roof rack parts.

I would suggest a hitch mounted bike rack for your Tahoe. If your Tahoe has a 2 inch receiver hitch the Swagman XTC-2, item # S64670, platform style bike rack is one of our best sellers and holds the bikes very securely. Loading and unloading would be much easier and this rack folds compactly for storage, see video link for more details.
