Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring Kit for 2010 Toyota Highlander

Question:

The information is helpful. The video is very helpful. It appears that I still need the 7 pole connector, because I do not see it included in the 5506 kit. Would it make more sense to go with the ETBC7 kit that includes the connector.

For your 2010 Toyota Highlander, there is not a brake controller wiring harness available for the tow package. For the best option for your vehicle, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller # 90195 which will work for brakes on up to 4 axles. It will work very well for your 4 brake assemblies and will give you proportional braking to the timing and intensity you hit the brake pedal in your Highlander.

To wire your 7-way for this brake controller, you will simply need the kit # 5506 and you will splice into the factory connector. This will give you the wire, connectors, and circuit breakers needed for your installation. I've attached a video of the similar installation to assist.

Yes. I made the assumption the factory tow package on your 2010 Highlander would already have a 7-way. For the kit that converts a 4-way connection into a 7-way and has the connections, wires, and circuit breakers for your brake controller, I recommend the # ETBC7. This will give you both a 7-way and a 4-way connection at your bumper.
