How to Carry a Kayak and a Canoe on a 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon
Question:
Don’t you have a solution using landing pads and towers with a cross bar? I was hoping I could remove the factory crossbars, put landing pads and towers on, then use 50" or longer Yakima bars. Then use the Yakima J-bars I already have for the kayak, and buy the keel up system for the canoe. I would use tie downs bow and stern to the bumpers for both boats. Total weight of both boats is <100 lbs. My concern is the towers and Yakima crossbars would only be spaced about 30" apart from front to back.

I do have an option for you but we don't really have any feasible solutions for you to carry both a kayak and canoe on the roof of your 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon at the same time. Instead, I recommend placing both the kayak and canoe on a pull behind trailer like the Malone EcoLight Trailer part # MAL.
In order to pull a trailer with your vehicle you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and ball mount/hitch ball. For this I recommend using the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch part # 75673, T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118467, and the Ball Mount Kit part # 989900.
To secure the kayak to the trailer I recommend the Yakima DeckHand Kayak Carrier part # Y04083-2 and to secure the canoe I recommend the Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier part # Y04069. These carriers come with everything you will need to secure your kayak and canoe to the trailer.
I have attached several review videos for you as well.
