Recommended Replacement Air Ride Pin Box for 2008 Jayco Eagle with Extended Pin Box
Question:
At present I have a Dexter pin box. I wish to replace this with an air ride style pin box. The Dexter number I now have is 221-0006-00. It is 14 inches wide load 16,000 lbs max vet 3200. The total length of my present pin box is 43 and a half inches the first set of bolt holes are 20 inches from the middle of the pin. I have short box Dodge Ram so I need a extended pin box. The first set of holes, have five vertical half inch holes. The next set of holes are seven inches behind the first row.i have checked with a few distributors and no one can locate the dexter pin box code that I have. The closes pin box I can match to mine was on another, but older Jayco Eagle and that pin box was a Leland 7921. Can you suggest what I can instal to ungrade unit. The year of my Eagle if that can help is a 2008.

Thank you for the measurements! I have a few options for your pin box replacement. The Leland 7920 is the closest to what you have and any pin box compatible as a replacement for it will also be compatible with your Dexter pin box. For the air ride replacement, you can use the Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel King Pin # UF35-946208 made by Lippert. It is rated for up to 21,000 lbs.
Because you have a short bed truck, you may want to consider the 5th Airborne Premium 5th Wheel Air Ride King Pin w/ Sidewinder and Turret - 16,000 lbs # ST400-5AS16K. This will increase your turning clearance by giving your a fixed connection point at your 5th wheel hitch and moving the rotation for your trailer back 22 inches using a turret. This will have the air suspension as well as the additional turning clearance. I've attached a video and an article to assist.
Let me know if you have any questions.
