Recommended Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack for 2014 Toyota Prius V

Question:

Hi I have a 2014 Prius v. I have a double track which does not allow me to open the hatch without folding the rack down. This is a pain even when no bikes are loaded because I have to release it just to load some groceries. Does the Kuat sherp allow me to easily open up the hatch? Also can the Kuat sherpa withstand rainy wet climate? I like the thulesingle bolt install with the hitch as sometimes I move it to another vehicle. How is it with the Kuat? Thanks.

The Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack # SH12G will work better for your 2014 Prius V simply because it will give you 11 inches between the hitch pin and the closest part of the rack compared to the Thule DoubleTrack # TH92BJ that will give you much less. It may not seem like much to have an extra clearance but when you consider the angles, that can make a big difference.

The Kuat Sherpa is powder coated so it will withstand the rainy wet climates. This rack weighs just 32 lbs so it is easily transferred to other vehicles and it does have a tool free installation and anti-rattle. I personally see it as an upgrade from your Thule DoubleTrack.
