First, you will need to make sure that your 1989 Toyota Corolla has 2 sets of 12mm threaded holes on the bottom and side (towards the front of the vehicle) of the bumper beam. Given the age of the vehicle, the holes are probably a bit corroded. If you find you do have the holes, you will need to clean them out so the bolts for the hitch will fit. I have included a link to a video showing how to clean them out for you to view.
I have incldued a link to the installation instructions Curt Trailer Hitch, # 11227 for you to look over. Installation is fairly straight forward.
If you plan on doing some towing, the recommended ball mount, hitch pin, and clip are included. For a ball, you can use # 19256 (1-7/8 diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). For trailer wiring, use # 119178KIT. I have included a link to a video showing a typical installation of the wiring harness.
