The Aries Switchback Headache rack like # AA1110109 is not a fit for your 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. I've linked the page to the Aries options that are a confirmed fit for your truck. If you have a 6-1/2 foot bed, I recommend the Aries AdvantEdge Headache Rack # AA1110104 and for an 8 foot bed # AA1110105. I've attached a video to assist.
Headache racks are not rated for the amount of weight or the impact speed as that can obviously vary. They are intended to be a protection from object that could break the rear window and harm the individuals in the cab, but they are not rated for capacities. They are very strong and durable, but anything 4,000 lbs like you mentioned would definitely damage the headache rack and help prevent some injury, but may not completely keep the cab from damage or prevent all injuries that can occur. It is a metal shield to be another layer of protection, so it is a good idea that I recommend for anyone who is concerned about loads moving.
