Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2016 Ford F-150 With 5-1/2 Foot Bed
Question:
Will these rails work with essentially any type of hitch? demco, reese, curt, pullright Im asking because i will be pretty much piecing together the setup, trying to stay as cost effective and simple as possible. Im trying to figure out what the best hitch for my needs would be as i have a 5.5 bed, going back and forth between a slider hitch or a stationary hitch with a sidewinder. Any advice would be helpful!

The Reese Custom Install Rails # RP50087-58 are a fit for your 2016 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2' bed, but when it comes to the type of fith wheel hitch you need, a stationary hitch with a Sidewinder is going to be required. A slider would not give you enough clearance and your trailer would smash into your cab so a Sidewinder is going to be a necessity.
You will need to choose the correct Sidewinder based on your pin box. For example, # RP34FR is a replacement for Fabex 663 and 665, Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD, as well as M&M 663 and 665 pin boxes. I have added a link to our page with each of our Sidewinders so you can find the one that works for you.
The # RP50087-58 will work with industry0-standard fifth wheel hitches and a cost-effective, stationary option that would work is the Reese # RP30047. This hitch has a 2-jaw locking system, can adjust up to 3-1/2 inches in height and features a 4-way pivoting head to make hooking up an easier process. I've added a link to a video review of this hitch for you to take a look at.
