Is the Stop Light Switch Kit Part # RM-751480 Required for a 2018 Chevrolet Spark

Question:

I recently purchased a Stay N Play Duo from you for my 2018 Chevy Spark w/ manual transmission. First let me say think you for taking the time to put up all of the videos on YouTube, they are extremely helpful. I am somewhat confused by what seems to be conflicting instructions between, Demco and e-trailers YouTube video on installing the unit un a 2017 Chevy Spark and what you have in your help files on your website. Your video says to attach the red wire from the indicator light to the blue wire on the breakaway switch. Your help files suggest a stop light kit is required and Demco make no mention of either. Your video did say that 2009 and new GM products have a brake light circuit that shuts off after a few minutes so not to hook into that circuit on the car. What exactly do I need to do to make the unit work on my car?

On certain vehicles, the stop light circuit does not carry a 12 volt signal while the vehicle is off. The 12 volt power on the vehicle's stop light circuit will be needed to illuminate a light in the vehicle's windshield that will be used to tell if the brakes are being activated while sitting in your RV.

The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751480 will indeed be required while using the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System part # SM99251 on your 2018 Chevrolet Spark. This will be the only additional item you will need to purchase to make the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO work on your vehicle. Unfortunately, we do not show the installation of this product when we installed the Stay-IN-Play on a 2017 Chevrolet Spark.

The reason that Demco does not list the stop light switch is that their instructions are not vehicle specific and not every vehicle will require the stop light switch. In this case your vehicle will require the stop light switch.
