Backup Sensors on Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 Cant See Out Wide Enough
Question:
I have the Hopkins #HM50002 mounted on a 2011 Chev Silverado K1500 that I use for a snow plow. I live in the Colo. mountains and I plow around trees a lot. The sensor field is not wide enough, It does not detect trees that could still hit the rear corners of the truck. Are there wide angle sensors available?

The problem you are having with the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 is common if the license plate frame part of the unit is recessed back like it would be on most truck step bumpers.
There are a couple of things you can do to help the system "see" a little better. You could put spacers between the mounting location and the back of the license plate frame part of the unit. So in other words it would be pushed out further from the back of the vehicle thus increasing its field of view. Or you could try mounting it higher or lower but that may require an alternate method to secure it in place.
