Recommended Roof Mounted Bike Rack for Land Rover Discovery Towing a Racing Sailboat
Question:
we need to install a bike rack to the trailer that tows our Etchels. We drive a Discovery and the boat weighs 4,000 pds. We will carry 2 bikes. thanks

Thanks for the photo so I can see what you are working with. Due to the trailer and boat configuration, you really only have one good option for carrying your 2 bikes and that is to utilize your Land Rover Discovery's roof rack. The trailer will not allow for a bike rack based on it's design and a trunk mounted bike rack with the rise required at your hitch won't allow for enough room.
My recommendation is two of the Yakima FrontLoader Wheel Mount Bike Carrier # Y02103. This will give you a clean wheel mounted option for no frame contact and a steady hold. I've attached a video to assist. I also recommend the Same Key System # Y07202 or # Y07204 to key everything alike.
