Where is a Reverse Light Only Wire on a 2007 Honda Pilot for a Backup Camera

Question:

Hi there, You said Normally you could use a fuse tap and tap into the reverse light circuit fuse to get the signal needed. But on a 2007 Honda Pilot the reverse light fuses have other functions on them so that would not work. What does it really mean? So tapping the fuse wont get the reverse signal? Or tapping it will damage the fuse? If all I want is a signal for my aftermarket head unit backup camera signal, I assume it would be very small signal, not big in terms of amp, would it work?

If you are unable to use the reverse light fuse on your 2007 Honda Pilot because that fuse is also used for other systems in the vehicle you will have to tap into an actual reverse light wire. It looks like on your Pilot the reverse lamps are in the rear hatch. In many cases there is a wire that carries the reverse light signal located in the wiring harness that goes to one of the taillights which will be easier to access than the wiring in the hatch. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one to test the wires behind a taillight to see if any of them carry the reverse light signal (and nothing else).

This will require another person, the emergency brake engaged, foot on the brake, wheels chocked, and vehicle then put in reverse. Safety first!

If you cannot find a wire that carries the reverse light signal behind one of the tail lights then check the wiring that goes into the hatch. It is most likely located at the top of the hatch and is covered.
