We do have Roadmaster base plates for the 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 but # 264-1A will not fit. If your Truck is NOT an SRT-10 you can use XL base plates # 260-1. These base plates will fit with or without tow hooks.
Roadmaster recommends professional installation but if you look at the instructions I have linked for the 260-1 base plates you can make that determination.
For a compatible tow bar I recommend the Falcon All-Terrain # RM-522. This is a non-binding tow bar rated for 6,000 pounds. Non-binding means that you won't have to be perfectly straight or level to hook up or disconnect the vehicle. Once you go with a non-binding tow bar you won't want to go back! I have linked a video review of this tow bar for you.
The tow bar also has channels to run safety cables so the cables you use will need to be straight such as # RM-649. For lighting a popular option for Ram owners is diode kit # RM-15267. Once installed you won't have to mess with it again. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
You may also need a high/low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I have linked a help article showing how to measure and a link to the high/low adapters we carry.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers and what I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
