License Plate Holder and Light for Use on Ramped Utility Trailer

Question:

Hi, I just purchased a new utility trailer and it did not come with license plate bracket. My question is how do I incorporate a new license plate bracket with light into existing hardware?

You can add a license plate holder and light to your ramped utility trailer either with a single item such as # LPL55CB or # PM436B, or you can choose separate plate holders and lights to let you choose the designs you most prefer, such as plate holder part # CR30830 and light part # LPL12CKM2B.

It may be easiest to use one product; my choice would be # LPL55CB since its LED light uses much less power than a typical bulb light (only about one-tenth as much power).

You will make a 2-wire connection to your trailer. Typically you would use the running light circuit (a brown wire usually on most trailer wiring setups) and of course the light needs to be grounded, either to the trailer frame or to the trailer's main white ground wire.

Where you can best mount the plate holder depends on the available space you have; from your photo (thank you) it is tough to tell how much ground clearance you have. When that is an issue often owner's will use the mesh decking as the installation point. I suggest stainless steel or galvanized hardware.
