Recommended B&W 5th Wheel Hitch for 2017 Ford F-350 Long Bed for Towing 37-Foot Toy Hauler Trailer

Question:

I have a 2017 Ford F-350 long bed with the trailer prep package. I have a 37’ 5th wheel toy hauler and usually tow at maximum weight. What 5th wheel hitch do you recommend that would into the ford puck system?

Having extra capacity or safety margin in a 5th wheel hitch is nice. This is true for trailer jacks, winches and landing gear and is just as true for 5th wheel hitches. Extra capacity often means a longer time between required maintenance processes and sometimes even a longer overall working lifespan.

Since you have a long bed Ford F-350 with the factory trailer prep you can use one of the specialized fixed (non-sliding) 5th wheel hitches shown on the linked page. All of these 5th wheel hitches drop into your factory pucks without need for adapters that add cost, complexity and noise to your towing set-up. You have the right truck for towing your trailer.

Big toy haulers often have dry weight in the 10K to 12K range and when loaded are easily 15K or more. With a trailer of this size and weight I like to suggest a safety factor of 4000 to 5000-lbs.

If a 20K hitch gives you a comfortable safety margin look no further than the B&W Companion # BWRVK3300. B&W fabricates their hitches right here in the US at their family-owned facility in Kansas. The fit and finish of their 5th wheel hitches is unsurpassed. Features like beefy 1-inch-thick king pin jaws, anti-rattle bushings and a fully-articulating head distinguish the B&W Companion.

But if you need more capacity then the Curt A25 hitch # C16036 with its 24,000-lb rating is a great option.

You can check out the customer reviews for these hitches (the B&W has almost a perfect score from more than 400 of our customers!). Also check out the review and install videos for the Companion that are linked for you.
